this semester's timetable is filled with long breaks, meaning i have long days. wasted my 5 hours today talking to secondary school friends. crashed hui's strtegic management lecture. i actually found it interesting. guess its the first lecture so i could understand what was being taught. the lecturer spoke clearly and loudly unlike many of the foreign lecturers i have encountered. it feels good to learn something i dont have exams for.
i wanna stay in my beloved hall 16! tired of travelling. *sobz*

back to yesterday...our plans for the night failed miserably at first. we wanted to go mind's cafe but yesterday evening was exceptionally crowded. cinema was damn crowded too. luckily we managed to get 3rd row seats(again!) for the lake house. its quite a nice movie. the house is so nice with glass all around and a maple tree in the middle. but as the plot has to do with 2 people living in 2 different times, it can get quite confusing. i can never fully understand the logic of time travel shows. wait a minute, there's no logic!

my jap lessons has ended. quite sad actually cos i enjoyed those lessons. and this means that school is starting. sigh...i think of the six modules and i'm reluctant to start school. yesterday's oral was a disaster. listening was a little better. i was the first to be tested and i was so nervous that i couldnt say anything properly. forget how to convert the different forms of verbs and could only leave it to my instinct. so disappointed with myself. i want an A!

another interesting thing is that i got to speak to two japanese businessmen on tuesday. i met them at orchard when they asked for my help in buying tickets at the mrt station. i was so excited in speaking japanese and it will be good practise for my oral and listening exam next week. but i forgot all that i've learnt and all i could manage was a few words and broken sentences. there were so many questions i wanted to ask but the words just couldnt form. in the end, a girl sitting next to the men in the mrt joined in the conversation. she must think i'm an idiot for struggling to speak in such broken japanese when they could speak perfect english. i also had to pay full attention when they speak so that i could understand what they were talking. it was a good experience though.
this brings me to my next topic. i'm currently reading 'tuesdays with morrie'. its quite a meaningful book about the author talking to his sociology professor who was dying. they talked about many issues in life. many of the things are actually what we know we should do but have difficulty doing or not wanting to do. the professor termed this 'tension of the opposites'. there was one passage in which he said we must always be with the person we are with. that means to give them our utmost attention when they are talking and not think about something else or look elsewhere. that is a problem i sometimes face. sometimes i have problem paying attention and will tend to space out if the conversation is too long and only pulling myself back to answer 'uh-huh'. do you guys have this problem too? it seems such an easy task to listen but few people can do it. to listen with utmost attention and sincerity. sometimes people dont need advice to their problems but just a listening ear.
shh...listen...

went out with some sbs friends for steamboat to celebrate vincent's bdae. sbs people always seem to have steamboat outings. it was quite fun. just hope that there will be more gals next time. looking forward to this weekend!
just changed my blogskin and i love the picture. but what's the problem with the sidebar?? hate this html thingy. just cant get anything right.
oh yeah, this month's world cup month. bazil didnt get into the semis! i was so surprised. bet alot of people must be cursing at their losses now. football just doesnt interest me

i finally got to meet up with my jap class friends last saturday after one year. too bad a few of them couldnt come at the last minute. hopefully more people can turn up next time. our group seems to be getting smaller. but i had fun that day!

then on the way home, my friend told me that results are out already. wasnt prepared to know my results today but actually i have no feelings about it this semester. my mind was blank except for a little worries for biochem. it turned out alright. not good but ok. very very slight improvement from last sem, though i still cant get rid of the C. that will be my aim for next sem(even that seems difficult to me). surprised for biochem...there must be moderation.
hmm...how to spend my free day tomorrow?
Sunday, May 28, 2006
just checked my time table for next semester. it sucks totally! i'm having 6 core modules plus lab. my days are packed from 8.30am to 5.30pm except for wednesdays. the exam schedule is not good either. how am i going to survive next sem?? sigh...better enjoy my hols now.
Saturday, May 27, 2006
next was probably the highlight of this chalet -- mahjong! 4 experts and 4 beginners. just nice to have a personal tutorial of the game. i took over vincent's feng shui seat and we won quite abit. vincent was a first time player but he picked up the game very fast and has extremely good luck. he managed to get 'hua hu' which is the set of 8 flowers! darren, though he was playing with 3 beginners, lost to everyone. thanks to him, we got free breakfast. haha... we played from 9pm to 3.30am and it was only 1 round. so dead tired that everyone just wanted to end the game. though there were 4 bedrooms, all 5 of us slept in 1 bedroom. feels like i've gone back to hall. only slept 2 hours before we all had to rush to school or work.
going to meet up with hui and guys later. so many movies to watch now. no time and money. haha... sw and mz, when to watch da vinci?? i also wanna watch x-men.
*hope this thurs gathering with the jap people will actually make it. its been postponed too long!*

i stayed in hokkaido for the first four nights. it is supposed to be spring now but the weather was still quite cold. especially up in the mountains where the wind is strong, our fingers would be numb beyond feeling. there were still some snow left from the previous week. first time i see snow, though most of it has become dirty ice.
our first two nights were spent in a hot spring resort. it was a new experience for me to go down to the onsen. had to have alot of courage cos we had to be fully naked. but you could see japanese from ages four to 60+ and it was pretty normal for them. they could let their young sons see their bodies without any problem. i even chatted with a kawaii boy in the pool. the outdoor pool was especially refreshing. its so relaxing to soak in the hot water in the cold air.
after two days of mountain scenery, we went to the town of Otaru. the buildings there are all very nice. their streets are lined with a mixture of traditional styled japanese buildings and european styled shophouses. i was surprised to learn that hokkaido is influenced greatly by european culture cos of their location. their houses are mostly european style instead of the tradtional ryokan even in the countryside.
next up was Sapporo city, capital of Hokkaido. at night, the buildings are all lit up with neon lights. it is very difficult to find rubbish bins on the streets but surprisingly, the streets are even cleaner than singapore's. there's no rubbish at all. singapore has much to learn.
Hakodate, port city of Hokkaido. i finally saw sakura blooms!!! it wasnt much, only a few isolated trees. if only i could see the mankai, the whole park would be covered in pink. we also went to the fish market. the seafood is all very fresh but i'm sick of eating seafood for one week. not much of a seafood fan. i tried the squid ink ice cream. not very special actually but i love their ice cream. i can eat it everyday even if its freezing cold. finally got to eat ramen from those roadside stalls too. oishii desu ne~ but actually the real japanese food is not as nice as those in singapore. we are too accustomed to the singaporean taste. and the food is so expensive! a normal meal usually costs at least $10. even though things are expensive, tehy dont have to worry cos the main tourists and consumers in japan are the japanese themselves. they buy things like they are free.
we went to Tokyo for the last day. shopping time!! Harajuku is like the bugis street of singapore. all the people are dressed up very fashionably. some of the clothes are quite affordable if they are on sales. regret not buying more. at night, we took the subway to Shinjuku. the metro system is so complicated that having a map wont help. you can also sense how fast paced and stressed city life is. the people are all walking so quickly that you also feel obliged to keep up to prevent from getting in people's way. anyway, the night life in Shinjuku is very 'happening'. its actually quite a sleezy place. the street is lined with sex toy shops or night clubs and karaoke joints. there's not only gals club but boys club. their pictures will be shown outside the building for customers to choose. there will also be guys in black suits and carrying transparent umbrellas (it was raining that day), trying to get female customers. they are supposed to be handsome but they look more like ah bengs. i saw a few men whom i think are members of the yakuza. all of them had gold chains and drive expensive cars.
on the whole, i find the japanese very friendly people. had the chance to talk to some of them with my mediocore japanese. communication is abit of a problem. but with some japanese and english plus alot of pointing, we could barely manage. the most important phrase during shopping is 'kore wa ikura desuka?', meaning 'how much?'
the japanese are also experts in pakaging and service. all the things are wrapped up so nicely you just cant resist buying. they are also very generous with their samples. they give out whole chocolates and large portions of cakes as samples. something that cant be done in singapore or they would probably incur a loss. as for service, they are very patient and helpful. we were in a shopping centre when we got lost in the underground system. it was closing time and we panicked. we asked the manager for directions and he immediately left his post to lead us all the way out. pei fu! in any case, dont ever try to take taxi in japan. you'll suffer from high blood pressure just looking at the meter. i travelled for 4km and paid S$30. a 60km trip will cost you what it takes for a nice trip to bangkok plus shopping! their apartments are equally expensive. my tour guide stays in the outskirts of tokyo in an apartment the size of 4 tatami mats (1 mat=90x180cm). her rent is 70,000 yen (100 yen = $1.40) per month!
ok, finally ended. thanks if ur're still reading. haha...hope to go japan again. next time with friends!

had alot of fun yesterday! after the paper and some rest, we went to buy ingrediants for our steamboat dinner. there were 7 of us and me and jh being the only gals, we prepared almost everything. too bad alot of people couldnt make it but it was still quite fun. we ate in our hall's tv lounge. felt guilty cos we couldnt finish the food.
after dinner, we went to meet the rest of the gals from hall 16 and 4 other friends to go ministry of sound. its my first clubbing trip! wouldnt have been able to go if we were not staying in hall. realised that clarke quay is very beautiful at night. according to hui, there were not many people there yesterday. but the place was still very crowded to me. all the smoke and loud music thumping...not really my cup of tea. but if there's a chance for everyone to go again, i will. danced to retro and RnB music. not very good at dancing leh. jh's friend say we not drunk enough. haha...cos we didnt drink alcohol at all. everyone is dressed so nicely. can see all kinds of people there, including those guys who cant keep their hands off drunk gals. and i was so surprised to see jk and nigel there. jk was so high~ dancing on the platform like a transformed person. haha...
reached back hall at 3am and shared 2 bowls of instant noodles with the rest. then only slept at 6.30am with four of us sharing 2 beds. feels like chalet. my last night in hall le...so she bu de. all the wonderful memories and friendships forged. this has been the best sem in my 2 years of university. really very happy this sem, feel like i finally have a life. thanks to my roomies and jh!! finishing lab reports are alot easier with our discussions.
will miss our times together!

enjoyed myself today! but spent alot of money too. went to the hair salon after my paper. then went kbox at jurong east at night with jh, hh and cl. we sang from 10pm to 3am! so high~ but really very expensive. $18.90++ excluding cab fare. so fun... tonight is my last night in my room. so sad to see the room empty. kel they alln playing mahjong on sun. wonder if i can come back. abit guilty for not going home for so long. so many things that i've not yet done in hall. never even go out for supper with friends.
must not forget i still have a last paper on wed!
Wednesday, April 26, 2006
i didnt go home last weekend. mz asked if i missed home and my answer is...no. maybe abit bad but i really dont miss home. maybe its only one weekend and its comfortable enough here. but its not fun. eating and finding a place to study is a problem. can see a different side of the university without the crowd. and the absence of the cleaners is clearly pronounced. whole canteen become so dirty.
although i dread friday's paper, i'm also looking forward to the end of it! i'm gonna slack and not care about the last paper for the moment. so many programmes lined up that i think i wont be at home much. i wanna stay in hall this friday and next wedesday~ will be going out with hall friends. but i think my parents will nag. besides i'm flying off on thursday. no time!
sigh...3 more days. back to studies...

help~ why cant i seem to concentrate on studying after the immune paper. feel so drained...
Saturday, April 15, 2006
had my first exam paper on thurs. this whole week, i've been studying at sbs with my friends till late night. quite lucky cos can ask my friends questions and half of the exam paper came out from past year's and tutorials. hopefully i wont have problems with the other papers. after that paper, i felt so happy. as if the whole exam was over. the worst is yet to come...
celebrated jy's bdae at cartel. the organiser say meet at 11.15am. who celebrate bdae so early?? anyway, the bdae person gave a treat. he got an ipod nano as a present. so good, i also want~ at least its something he can use.
why so many people's bdae in april? i'm supposed to be studying!
Saturday, April 08, 2006
Dian's back from australia!! now working in a child psychology clinic and research assistant. so amazing... i always thought that people say its difficult to work as a psychologist in singapore. walid offered me a ride home on his bike and i declined. haha...i wasnt as relaxed as he thought i was when i rode pillion last time. all a bunch of nerves. going to miss weiling's bbq tonight. must start studying!
another piece of good news from my friend. he was successful in getting an internship in yes93.3! congrats! i saw his resume which was really impressive. i really admire his spirit and passion for the field of his study. he'll take the initiative to get internships to try all everything in the mass comm field. he knows what he wants and will take action to persue his dreams. some people just talk about their dreams but do nothing about it. that's only day-dreaming.
unlike him, i dont know what i want and have no plans for the future. can only take one step at a time right now...
all the best for the future

monday's immuno test was a disaster. the teacher had to remind us that there could be more than 1 answer for the mcq questions. this resulted in me putting down all those extra answers and end up those answers are redundant. worst thing was that 1 mark will be deducted for wrong answers. will i end up with a negative score? moral of the story - sometimes its good not to know the instructions.
these few days have been studying for exams but really li bu cong xin. i cant remember what i've read. all those stupid mechanisms for 209. can die~ and now i'm sick as well. wondering if i should go to sijia's bdae chalet tomorrow. cant eat anything. so many friends are sick too. everybody's stressed.
jia you and take care of yourselves!

the trip has been confirmed. i'll be going japan with my mum and aunt! its a dream come true. will the little jap i've learnt be of help? haha...dont think so. i hope that we'll manage to see the sakura blooms. heard that this year's weather is warmer and the flowers has opened earlier.
quite sad though that my bro not going. no one to share my excitement with. he's taking his o levels this yr and my dad dont allow him to go. actually if i were him, i'll be so jealous and upset. 1 week doesnt make much of a difference. my dad wants to get him tuition and through yu,i got ny. feels weird that i'll be seeing him every week at my house. i'm such a lousy sis. maths quite good but cant teach my bro. i really dont know how to teach. sometimes he also dont accept my method and say its different from what's taught in school. stubborn like i was last time

Sunday, January 15, 2006
i got a surprise on thursday night. my mum came home with 2 free tickets for sun yan zi's concert! i went with hui yesterday. so excited, first time go to this kind of concert. but we had to walk to the indoor stadium from kallang cos the bus was havent arrived after so long and no cabs will take us. walked with 3 other people along the way cos we were not sure of the way. sure upped our anticipation along the way. the stadium was packed and we were sitting in the second block. the stage was in the center so we could see quite reasonably. then sun yan zi appeared from the rising stage singing feng zhen. think she sang about 20 songs with 3 encores and 8 costume changes. the whole concert was great with fast and slow songs. i loved fir's songs and tanya's duet with yanzi. but the atmosphere wasnt really that high till the encore. the concert seemed to end so quickly after 2.5 hrs. i wanna go concert again~ yanzi rocks!

meanwhile, i'm still going out this week. completed my new year clothes shopping. made cheese cake with sw and mz. it turned out like biscuit crumble with cream cheese and choc chips though. lol... met up with theo and my guitar friends today. i was so blur. forgot to bring my ic and ez link card out, so went back twice for them. then when i reach the mrt station, i realise i didnt bring my wallet. only had 10 bucks to last the day. luckily they all gave me treats. thanks to you all!
Monday, January 02, 2006

sat was the first xmas eve i spent with friends. orchard would be nice with the lights and festive spirit but squeezing with the crowd is really not my cup of tea. so we went to marina bay for steamboat. we were split into two tables with the 3 guys, hui and me and the other table with ling, nana and their boyfriends. it kinda felt like we were going out seperately. but i had alot of fun, all the laughter and eating. but of cos, we stank of smoke at the end. after teh meal, the 5 of us went to city hall for ice cream. city hall wasnt crowded. in fact the mrt station was quite empty. still early perhaps? too bad iz had to book in or we could have gone esplanade. just love sitting at that place.
xmas day was spent with my family as we had our own party at my aunt's place. my mum had lots of last minute shopping to do and we had a mad rush for gifts 1 hour before. clearly, many people was also in a fluster, crowding the wrapping station. the party was good. gifts exchage and more food!!
now left the last week of hols and its my bdae week! must enjoy more. haha... though its belated, merry xmas!

Friday, December 09, 2005
but the whole day was like shifting tables. cos everywhere we went,we had to shift tables to accomodate the whole group. laughed so much yesterday cos of weiling and walid. walid would laugh at whatever weiling said and we would laugh at walid's laughter. created so much noise. and seng, he brought us to his 'fave spot', which was some secluded corner at tm's top floor beside a 'cage' with rubbish dumps. like what kind of place is that to sit and talk??
we spent the rest of the night at safra talking about the past 8 years of our life. everybody's love life seems pretty drama. or are all love stories as dramatic? yesterday was also the first time i sat on a motobike. walid sent me home but i was kinda nervous. gripped the side of the bike like my life depended on it, till the plastic cut into my hand. he was going quite fast but i enjoyed the wind. but i still prefer to stick to the car. lol...
yesterday was the first gathering but i believe many more will come. the kind of pure friendship in primary school is hard to come by and i'll treasure it. so mrs choo, watch out. cos we'll be raiding your house in the new year!

went swensens's after that and saw julian hee shooting outside! he was wearing a suit and i think he looked quite shuai. though mz say his face look fat. there were only a few crew members and he kept walking up and down across the busy road. seems awkward and blocking people's way. lol...
talking about stars, i was surprised that nic was out after the first round in star idol. didnt think he was great but didnt expect him to get kicked out so fast either. thought he had alot of fans. proved that good looks are not everything...

the only thing i like about exams is that it is only during this period that i get to see friends i dont usually meet. only during exams will i see hui everyday and sw every saturday to study. without them, i'll be too lazy to go out. haha...its very boring to study alone. so thanks and sw, jia you. faster finish your exams and we can watch harry potter!
Monday, November 14, 2005
hai...hope someone will come keep me company...
jia you for the exams!! hang in there~
Friday, October 28, 2005
yesterday was the last day of the semester. had my french oral and 204 test. did quite well for my french test. think oral should be fine too. though i made some mistakes and said places in english. my group had 3 persons so we took longer. it seemed like an eternity with never-ending questions. sometimes we had to continue our answer on that of the previous person's. she asked me why i liked singapore. didnt really have much choices of an answer left so i just made up something. vocab so limited. so glad no listening or i'll just miss out everything. but i'm quite relaxed about french cos i adopted a dont-really-care attitude. but it seems better. stress-free... not so for my core though. i hate studying for cell bio. someone help me~
this sem no one to study with me. and i'm feeling less motivated with each sem. dont really feel happy. felt left out from my usual group of friends this sem. maybe cos i'm always going for french during breaks. end up missing alot from their conversation topics. and they are all so smart. really cant catch up when they discuss school work so feel stressed around them sometimes. sometimes feel like i have nothing to say. sigh...i was hoping to get closer to one of them. maybe i think too much ba. now have to concentrate on studying. gambatte!
Sunday, October 09, 2005
my friends always ask 'isnt it tough that u're taking french on top of ur core? french is so difficult...'. french is difficult but i still enjoy languages more than my core. languages are so fun to learn. besides, i've become used to the teaching style in french class. its different from japanese but both styles have their good points. i think i learn more vocab in french, verbs especially. the teacher always teach us extra things, sometimes from level 2. japanese class was more speed learning and conversation practice. can see the difference between french and japanese teachers too. the french are more easy-going with a better command of english. they enjoy the arts. japanese are more particular about puntuality and rules. always very polite. very interesting to learn all these.
oh yah, very excited. i met sijia in ntu. she's my primary school best friend. we chatted all the way home. so much to catch up on. victor is organising a class gathering at the end of the year to be held at our old classroom. isnt it cool if it can really take place?

started playing with maple story during the hols. was attracted by its cute characters so i tried to play my first rpg. its not very exciting actually, except when you get cool stuff or level up. i guess that's why people are addicted to gaming. think i'll lose interest after awhile though. and i only told one person i was playing and now all the guys know i'm playing. hai...
got back my french test last week. i got a 17/20! really surprised. thought i'll do badly for the compo and questions sections. maybe i can get an overall good grade afterall. hee...
went to swensens to celebrate my mum's birthday. really coincidence cos i saw willie with his family having dinner too. then jy came to meet wy, hk and yy. havent seen the guys in a long time so it was great to catch up abit. seems like they are planning a xmas party.
who can calm my restless soul?

looking foward to holidays this week~
Sunday, August 21, 2005
we went through elaborate rituals, with the taoist priests chanting prayers. they sang in a hokkien dialect incomprehensible to me. i was quite amazed by the 'musicians'. one could beat the drum, sound the gong and sing at the same time. i didnt know my greatgrandma well but as the females went in to kneel down, i saw my grandma cry and tears came to my eyes too.
but funerals seem to have become more commercialised. we even had the choice of what prayer package we want. of cos, more prayers will be more expensive. and its quite sad that the whole family only comes together in occasions like this.
goodbye greatgrandma...

anyway, i had a great time at sentosa on sunday. went with the s09 classmates. expected more girls to go though. end up me,shiwen and joy were the only girls. i thought i wouldnt enjoy myself cos i'm not close to the guys. we paid $5 each to rent the volleyball and facilities at siloso beach. i totally sucked at playing volleyball. couldnt even serve over the net. hai... but after that we went kayaking. woohoo~ damn fun. i've been waiting a long time for this. i paired up with dennis. realised all of them are quite strong kayakers. after all dennis and jerome was from dragonboat team. we raced with damian and minsiang's boat and came in second. at least not last. haha...i changed kayak and rowed with weixiong for awhile. the waves were quite strong and were pushing us to shore. then when our boat became paraqllel to the waves, we capsized. lol... hope to go kayaking again. 5 hours in the sun and i'm red like a lobster. pain~

very sad that this semester couldnt get jap2 for my ge. really wanted to continue taking before i forget everything. i got marketing instead. though i was interested, now seems abit heavy to take with my core. it'll be good to take but i'm kinda reluctant now. yesterday, i went for 8 hours of lessons. reached home at 9pm. that would be the time i'll reach home if i got my jap. i crashed lihui's french class in the afternoon and junjie's jap class in the evening. french class was interesting and the teacher was good. its was in the same class as my jap last sem. sat back in the same seat too. but french pronounciations are all so difficult and confusing. my interest was not deep enough. good experience though. jap class was very fast paced. i forgot some things already and sometimes couldnt keep up with the over zealous class. i preferred suzuki sensei and my previous class. this teacher was lively but there seems to be something missing. i miss my class...in any case, both french and jap have no more vacancies. sigh...
Sunday, July 24, 2005
spent my last day of holidays with my family. we tried a bit of archery just now. its quite fun but very tiring on the left arm. not enough strength. haha... my first shot flew off on the floor. but i managed to hit the target later.
yesterday, i met up with meizhen and shiwen. bought my first shirt during the hols. couldnt resist the urge. haha... and i highlighted my hair. but seems like its not obvious enough. the actual colour looked much darker than what the hairdresser showed me. anyway, still prefer myself with shorter hair.
Friday, July 22, 2005
anyway, met up with some of the cns people for lunch yesterday. jinhan's treat. haha... we went to this cafe in cineleisure. think its called friends. replaced the previous lips cafe. the food was quite good. they were having the student promo, from 2 to 6pm. damn cheap. for $5.90, you get to choose a main course and also free flow of soup. drinks are an additional 60 cents. really good bargain considering the original price of the main course alone range from $7.90 to $11.90. students can consider going. after lunch, i played pool for the first time. haha... its not as easy as i thought it would be. not very fun to play. maybe my skills too lousy. the only balls i can hit in is the white one. hwai quan almost gave up teaching me. now looking forward to our naruto screening~
Tuesday, July 19, 2005

went to marina twice in 3 days. first was sat's outing with the jap class people. didnt expect it'll only be the 5 of us. so shelved our plans for steamboat and went to sakae instead. ate alot there, including something gross. they took a plate of snails and persuaded me to try too. the thought of eating it was really gross but i think i put too much wasabi, i couldnt really taste the snail. still, one is enough. *bleah* but i had alot of fun that day. we went to esplanade after dinner and started a phototaking frenzy. the main exhibit is always really good for taking photos.
p.s.can someone teach me how to post the photos nicely?

met hui, gary,jy and iz for dinner at suntec fish n co after the trial camp. can we not go there again? haha... then gary had on his army specs and could see that he had tried to style his hair abit. but his specs still made him look somewhat nerdy. i enjoyed myself at dinner but was abit distracted. my mum had called to say they were sending my bro to hospital cos he felt dizzy and fell, hitting his head on the floor. so it doesnt seem right that i should be enjoying myself. was quite worried cos head injury is quite serious. plus he also vomitted.
but he's ok now. discharged after 4 nights stay. thanks to u all for your concern. one thing i'll like to say is that changi hospital is very inefficient. they doctors are mostly young, many under training. some not even confident of taking blood samples. they didnt explain my brother's condition or what they were doing. they only came once a day. then said that maybe my brother was too tall. crap. it was my dentist who explained to me. how ironic. the radiologists took two days to come up with the x-ray report. the result? they were still not sure if the line shown in the x-ray is a crack or a blood vessel. so they only sent him for a brain scan after that. i think its pretty fustrating for patients. alot of people were complaining in the ward. wonder if other hospitals are like that. so dear frens, please take care of yourselves.
that aside, i went to watch war of the worlds today(finally!). it was really great and exciting. its like a computer game. the aliens zapping all the humans with their light beams. but i didnt really catch the ending. how come the aliens all suddenly collaspe? did they catch bird flu or something? overall its a nice movie so go watch if you havent.
looking forward to camp tml~

second thing, i finally plucked out 2 of my wisdom teeth yesterday~ 2 down, 2 more to go. the pain was bearable actually but my body was tensed throughout the 1 hour. though numbed from pain, i was not numbed from all feelings. i could still feel the dentist drilling and cutting the tooth into half before forcibly pulling it out. i used to be very afraid of going to the dentist and i'll cry and sulk everytime. so i thought that i'll never have to pull out another tooth after my last milk tooth dropped. now got wisdom teeth. why call them wisdom teeth when they are useless anyway. now my left cheek is swollen and according to colin, i'm probably like a half chipmunk. have to miss out on the movie outing tonight. i wanna watch initial D and war of the worlds!! anyone wanna watch with me?

this morning i went to the dentist and missed out on ying's invitation to watch batman. but at least this week can meet shiwen. take out ur braces even more pretty le wor. then the bad news is i've got to take out all my wisdom teeth before they push my other teeth. how?? i damn scared... haiz...*prays there'll be no pain* i'll need all the courage i can get

It has been a busy week. think i went out almost everyday. watched star wars on fri with my mum and bro. didnt think it was so great. and padme never seems to age from episode one. weird...can father anakin's children somemore. met up with ying and xiuhui on sat too. went shopping at orchard. suppose to meet the guys too but they so lazy dont wanna go to town. hai...wait till they go army, wanna go out also cannot. going out with the gals so much easier.
went to the ntu buddhist society trial camp yesterday. just joined the logistics sub commitee. i was quite skeptical at first, whether it will be some religious camp with buddhist classes. but it turned out alright. i had fun. we played some ice breaker games. the people were nice. especially since my group consisted mainly of non-buddhists too. the morning was filled with introduction to buddhism and we were taught the different ways of prostrating, puja chanting and watched some video. not what i'll find interesting so i sat out on the video. the people there were mostly seniors though, going on to final year. so when we played the amazing race, they asked me to guess the clues and places. cos i was the closest to being a freshie. we went around the whole ntu. tiring k, all the stairs and the hot sun. woke up at 5.30 to go sch. havent got up so early before. quite surprised that the mrt got quite alot of people too. where are they going so early on a sunday morning?? overall, the day was fun. will look forward to the real camp. just too bad they scrapped going to sentosa this year

i had a great time at wild wild wet yesterday! the place was kind of expensive considering there were so little rides. but the water was so inviting in the hot weather. there were not many rides so we went on them over and over again. we went on the ulah lah(float ride for 6 pple) so many times until the station master got tired of us. we sat till we finally got a perfect picture for the camera. lol... the samsung ride was most exciting but it wasnt so scary after the first time. on the first time, two of us had difficulty sitting properly on the float, creating much laughter. it looks kind of obscene if you are standing at the back. seeing 2 people sitting facing each other trying to push themselves up on the float with their legs apart. haha... after that we lazed around in the jacuzzi. shiok~ singapore should build a bigger water theme park in the integrated resort next time

went to TPJC guitar concert last friday. so glad i went. yixi, thanks for the treat. surprised to see chantel and jennifer there too. the concert was so good, especially the ensemble. they won gold at syf this year. they had a decent instructor. ours looked liked some street musician. and they had uniforms. that made them look alot better. but most of all, their skills surpass ours by so much more. they played songs like First Love and She Will Be Loved. It was really great. and i got to meet up with the guitar people after so long. especially my cousin. haha...people who didnt know wont be able to tell that we're cousins. we went to have prata after that. the food wasnt that delicious but i had a great time anyway.

secondly, mum said last night that some of my relatives and coousins will be driving up to Kota Tinggi(is this how u spell?) this mon. gonna go to the waterfall there and spend the afternoon. but cos they are meeting at 6am, my dad said no way is he giving up his sleep and it'll be tiring for him to drive up. and continued that he is old and not as energetic as before. dont get me wrong, i'm not blaming my dad. i know its tiring for the driver and 6am is damn early. but i'm just disappointed. i badly wanna get out and go on holiday. no matter how short. and i wanna see the waterfall. haiz...this is the 2nd chance we missed this year. first was club med. i wanna go there too~
third... i'm feeling kinda cooped up. not that i dont go out but mostly i've just been looking for jobs. its getting on my nerves. why is it so hard to get a job?? first AP Comm calls me and gives me hope. then they tell me that they are updating their database. why update when they dont have available jobs? then last mon, recruit express called with a job offer. i accepted and waited for confirmation. its been % days and still no calls. sigh...can give up already

Met up with the jap class people yesterday evening after yet another disappointing day of job searching with meizhen. Felt like i wasted the whole afternoon. The dinner was something to look forward to. But only 6 people came today. Junhui didnt join us due to miscommunication on me and meimei's part. We were all waiting for him and luckily, we saw him at the mrt station with his friends! He had no idea we were meeting. So coincidental! We gave kairong his b'dae present. Picked out a cream coloured long sleeved shirt. Lucky never buy the purple one. Haha... Then went Swensen's for dinner.Sat there talking and taking pics for like 2 hrs plus until the waiter asked if we want to order some more food. Went to esplanade after that. Too bad the rooftop was closed. There was actually a stretch selling hawker food at the ground level. Can check it out sometime. We sat by the river and talked somemore. Found out that June Kit is actually a very romantic guy and very sweet to his gf. The things he did for her are like wow. He actually made a snow globe with a rose inside for her. So sweet~ His views on certain issues are also different from some guys. Though he claims its his caveman thinking, it has impressed us gals. Zhen ren bu lou xiang!
Then in the front hall, we saw a very nice artwork. There were many strings of transparent acrylic puzzle pieces hanging from the ceiling. And there were green spotlights around, giving it a green glow. Hopefully i can post some photos soon.
And looking forward to our next meeting~

went to bowl again with meizhen. spent alot of money yesterday. and i did a super embarrassing thing. totally throw all my face. luckily we were at the end of the alley and the guy next to us helped me so i didnt have to inform the personnel. so paiseh! after bowling, we went to suntec for lunch and had the ice cream waffle at gelere. really splurge today.
if u all know any openings for temp jobs pls tell me...i need a job~

finally! i finished all my exams. today's paper wasnt that good. but i'm numb from it after wed's paper. stupid blogger blanked out on me after i typed the super long entry on wed. argh...really upset over the genetics paper. made so many mistakes. cos i didnt trust my instincts or interpreted the question wrongly. haiz...but anyway, i have all the time in the world now. time to get a job. i wanna go on holiday...qifen's in korea, weixiao in taiwan, jeff in tioman. and so many other friends going bangkok.
anyway, i wanna share an interesting story i heard on radio the other day. its not exactly a story but an experiment by an american scientist. he trapped a fly and a bee in a glass jar and put them in the dark. after some time, he shone a light at the top of the jar while leaving an opening at the bottom. guess which of them will escape and which will die in the jar?
the answer is the fly will escape while the bee dies. although the bee has a higher order of intelligence, most of it is based on logic. it only does things based on what it knows. so its logic is that the escape route must be where the light is. it will fly towards the light and fly around it until it finaly dies without finding the opening. cos in its world, it does not know anything such as glass. determined creature but inflexible. haha...
the fly on the other hand, has a lower order of intelligence. it does not know the logic of flying towards light. instead, it will just fly around ramdomly around the whole jar till it finds the opening. it will be able to escape very quickly.
so we must be flexible. if something fails, find another way till we find the solution. dont be bent on using the same method over and over. be the fly and not the bee. haha...

sat for my cell bio paper today. 2 down, 2 more to go. today's paper was really bad. couldnt remember alot of stuff. left at least 10 marks blank. haiz... i'm more worried about next week's papers. genetics and biochem, metabolism. not exactly the most exciting to study.
God, please bless me with the wisdom and strength to get over this week.
Lady Luck, please shine on me...

accompanied my brother to go watch the basketball match at changkat cc just now. tamp changkat vs tamp central. actually didnt plan to stay for long cos we didnt really get good seats and i should be studying! but the match was quite exciting so i watched for the whole 40 mins. changkat won 41 to 36. there were a few good players. all can jump so high and touch the rim. then see so many steals, fakes, rebounds and layups. some of them pass the ball without looking. and some can shoot 3 pointers very well. really nice. too bad competition cant slam dunk. saw one cute guy too. haha... how i wish i can play like that too. havent touched a ball since jc i think.

went NUS to study with my dear shiwen yesterday. think i can be quite familiar with nus le. haha...like go there alot of times. the campus is nicer. not so many slopes to climb. shiwen, u cut ur fringe very cute leh. even more like xiao mei mei. haha... the environment was quite nice for studying. we ba zhan a tutorial room to ourselves. but i think we talked a bit too much. after that, we went to the prata shop near fass. i think the cheese prata is very nice~ so much better than the one at canteen a. but quite expensive though, and have to wait very long. tried some of shiwen's ginger milk tea too. it has a...special taste. haha...never tasted anything like that before. craving for cheese prata now...

Just had my first paper today. Should be the easiest among all my papers--jap. haha...It was alright except for the compo part. Suppose to write 15 sentences about university studies. Like huh, how to write. Think everybody talk more about their jap class. With the exception of kairong. Haha...what he wrote was so funny. Had my listening and oral last week too. The listening compre was disasterous but i think i did well for oral.
Well, the easy part is over. Now for my core modules. Scared...it seems so difficult. So much to study. Cant seem to concentrate on studying this sem. It'll be worse if i didnt go school to study. Had been spending a considerable amount of time with my jap friends. Really fun studying with them. Then always get a lift home from them. Haha...so shiok. But after today, everyone got their own exams. Hope qifen does organise an outing after exams. Will be looking forward to it.
In the meantime, good luck to all those having exams! I must ganbatte!

Yesterday we had our last jap lesson. Took alot of photos. We even dragged a guy from the corridor to help us take a class photo. Jasmine and junhui didnt come today though. We signed a card for her but due to our very limited jap vocabulary, we could only write in broken english and japanese. Everyone was using 'omoshiroii' and 'arigatou gozaimasu'. lol. June kit wrote her name very nicely in kanji on the envelope. We really like her alot. She made the class so interesting. And its due to her pair work that we could know each other better. The class people are so fun too. There's always laughter and much chatter in jap class. Everybody liked it more than their core modules. We're lucky cos the other classes dont seem to be so close. I'm going to miss the class sooo much. Its thanks to this class that i've made so many friends. I think that we really you yuan. There are so many of them who were secondary school friends or bmt mates who never got close to each other till this class. 9 of us went for dinner at pizza hut after class. Really had alot of fun. Especially when all of us shouted out 'itadakimasu!' before eating. Lucky not many people there. Hope we'll meet up again after the exams. Going to miss going home with kairong, qifen and weixiao. Some of us are going to take level 2 next sem. But too bad the 3 of them cant join us. The girls are going to graduate! Oh wells, tian xia wu bu san zhi yan xi. At least i had a memorable time. G03 rocks!
Sorry if i bored u with my ranting. Havent been blogging much lately. Exams are coming and there's nothing much interesting. Haha...oh yah, i was surprised when i saw nic in the newspaper. He got second for the glamour quest. But i think he looked better than the winner. lol. Good luck to those who's going to have exams! 1 more month to the end. Gambatte!

yesterday, i met up with shiwen and meizhen. i slept at 6am in the morn so i was late. chatted with shiwen online till 4.30 and those damn mosquitos were keeping me awake. then when i arrived, i just laughed out when i saw that all 3 of us were wearing red tops and denim bottoms. so qiao~ we had lunch at pasta mania and shiwen was all excited about the opening of 'howl's moving castle' too. we decided to watch it. i couldnt resist it, didnt wanna wait another week. haha... the show was gd, though the age of the gal seems to keep changing and i was kinda confused. the movie was very different from the original storybook. they took away alot of details but added alot of new things. the love element was stronger too, making it draggy towards the end. but the show was quite funny. i like the dog, the castle and howl. haha...so shuai. anyway, i enjoyed myself.

on sat, 8 of us went to our pri sch teacher's hse to bai nian. the grp is getting smaller each yr. but its gd meeting up again, esp sijia, victor and ghee seng. we had a fun time playing cards at her hse. it was more like a memory game where we had to shout out each other's names. the loser had to drink bacardi coke or wadeva liquor they wanted. victor drank this apricot brandy that tasted like pi pa gao plus cough syrup to me. yuck. ichwan being muslim, couldnt drink so he ate love letters instead. after everything, he had finished 1/4 of a full bottle of love letters and had a stomachache. lol... mrs choo's daughter was so cute. we have been seeing her since she was born. or rather like once a yr. haha...
the exciting part was when we were about to leave. from the staircase, we saw thick smoke coming from the big field behind(the field behind blk 495 dat spanned all the way to pasir ris, beside esso station and highway.) but there was no fire yet. ghee seng decided to call the police and we stayed around to wait. in the next hr, we saw the start of a huge bush fire. at first, there was just a small fire in the middle of the field. then it started spreading round the trees and formed a ring of fire and started spreading outwards. then the wind came and the fire grew bigger, consuming everything in its path. we waited for 40 mins before the civil defense finally arrived. so slow~ the sun was a blazing hot ball in the sky and when the smoke rose to cover it, it turned bright red. the smoke went up to 12 stories high. wish i could post the pics up. anyway, my pt is dat the firemen were so inefficient. when they arrived, 3 firemen went in to survey the situation. they were strolling in and out, as if there wasnt a fire raging beside them. mb the area was a little inaccesible but cant they do sth more productive? by now the fire was oredi reaching the canal, no pt saving it. the firemen finally did sth. a crowd of them went in and stomped the edge of the fire out with their feet. nope, u didnt get me wrong. it was totally ridiculous. then another crowd went in and lashed at the fire with long black blankets or sth, all the while with 2 civil defense pple taking photos. then they gave up. finally, one hose was connected and water flowed out half an hr after they arrived. i tink its totally ridiculous. they took so long to arrive just to stamp out the fire with their feet? we could have ran in and done dat when we saw the first signs of smoke. sigh...i wish there will be rain in the east soon. the spate of forest fires are leaving a smoke smell at nite. hot hot hot~

today is valentine's day... and i'm sick. haha... been so weak ever since i came uni. or rather since i left jc. really need to start exercising soon. and the jap teacher really trying to make me blur today. she had to bombard me with so many qns. y?? other pple only get asked 1 qn. hai...i managed to scrape thru the conversation. the test is on thurs!! back to v day, i really miss the times in jc. everyone would exchange small gifts like chocs n cards. the guys in jc 1 S10 even bought stalks of roses for all the gals. though they spoilt the mood by just passing them down the row. haha... there was no such thing today in uni. just the canteen filled with pink heart shaped balloons that fly into ur face when u walked past. dont have a date today either. never had one. but not that i really mind though. like mei mei, her bf told her today dont go out k. its kinda sad, but i guess v day is afterall just a comercialised celebration so that flower sellers and restaurants can rip u off. wad matters is dat ur loved one is with u everyday rite? ^.^
here's wishing everyone attached a happy valentine's day. may ur love be everlasting. and to all my frens, a happy friendship day. thanks for being there~
i love you, wo ai ni, aishiteru, sa rang hae you, je t'aime! add on to the list~

yesterday(fri) was e 3rd day of new yr and yet i have a full day. sianz... nic came by to say hi. and su yin they all were saying he's still e most shuai guy in sbs. he is, with his model looks and swimmer built. but he's so diao er lang dang. not studying, not working, just rotting away at home. dun understand how he can stand not doing anything. anyway, we were supposed to go watch howl's moving castle~ but in the end decided to postpone. the sneak previews are only out till sun. after dat have to wait till 24th. ah well, i've oredi waited for so many mths anyway. nearly thot they were not going to screen it in spore. but luckily, its hayao miyazaki. how can they not show it. haha... today supposed to go out to. go visiting and play mahjong. but...no one's hse is free. hai...so sad, goin to stay at home. and mum's in thailand. lucky her.
another thing i wanna say. jus now gary asked me to help him search forinfo on ntu courses. he's interested in e chem course. i went to search and hell, i was interested myself. its quite similar to nus jus dat u get to study more elective modules. and compulsary modules in phy, math and chem. the advantage is dat u can op for industrial attachment and still do the honours research project. can do specialised modules in medicinal chem too. and they get to study communications and business modules. plus the honours programme. all this w/o the troublesome bidding system in nus. though nus would definitely be more established in the sciences. hai...if only it was offered 1 yr earlier. best of both worlds. can do chem and bio w/o worry of no bio background. now, the subjects are getting more and more difficult. i'm really scared for genetics. it was interesting at 1st but now its like crap. argh...i really hope i can do well
Monday, February 07, 2005
the next day went for jap class. again there's information overload with all the verbs and chinese new yr conversation. but the most angry thing was after class. that stupid jeff said he wanted to go home with me. but i waited so long for him only to leave myself. as expected, he overslept. by like 3 hrs past our meeting time. argh...cant stand him.
tml's new yr's eve~ so sad still got class. sian... but here's wishing everyone a happy new yr! hope u get lots of hongbaos~
